Meet the Team

Updated: 2 days ago

Over the past few weeks we've been introducing you to our Sp-Ring exhibition makers and designers and so, now we thought it was a great opportunity to introduce you to the team behind the gallery.

A mix of creatives and business owners in their own right, we make for a fantastically knowledgeable and skilled team that bring Anne Morgan Jewellery to life!

Read on to find out who's who behind the scenes and some fun and interesting trivia about each of us!...

Anne Morgan Jewellery

Meet the BIG BOSS

We're pretty sure that Anne needs no introduction but here she is - the BIG BOSS and the creative mind behind the brand. Anne realised her gallery dream in 2015 and has never looked back - driving the business from strength to strength, forging a haven for jewellery lovers who appreciate fine detail, handmade expertise and master craftsmanship. Anne has put together a wonderfully well-informed and experienced team to help bring you the most beautiful curation of modern design and making.

What is your role in the gallery?

Being the BIG BOSS! And of course, ensuring that everything is done to the very best of our ability at the gallery. As I'm the owner, the buck stops with me and it's my job to make sure that both customers and staff are happy. Every member of staff has their own jobs and roles and we work together, cohesively to get them done. I also spend a lot of my time working on commissions and bespoke pieces, as well as keeping the gallery stocked with my designs.

Tell us weird/unknown or interesting fact about yourself

I used to play the flute a long time ago! I also have had the honour of making the Eisteddfod crown in 2012.

What music/food/drink has gotten you through the last 12 months?

Podcasts! Namely The Guilty Feminist and Louis Theroux are my favourite listens. In terms of food, luckily my husband in an incredible cook so we've eaten very well - maybe even a little too well!

What Quirk are you known for in the gallery? Are you a chatterbox? Tea-Maker extraordinaire etc?

I'm not sure I know! Maybe you should ask the girls that...I'm not sure that I want to know?!

Meet Lucy.....

Lucy has been at AMJ since pretty much the start of the journey. With a background in marketing, having worked in the marketing department at the BBC, and with some serious jewellery designing and making skills of her own, Lucy helps the gallery flow and run smoothly even in our craziest periods.

What is your role in the gallery?

I'm the gallery manager which means I ensure that day to day running goes smoothly and I get to check out all the new designers we would like to curate at the gallery.

Tell us weird/unknown or interesting fact about yourself

I'm a grade 8 cellist! Does that count?!

What music/food/drink has gotten you through the last 12 months?

I bought a piano just before the first lockdown which definitely helped keep me sane and calm - although I'm not sure my neighbours agree! That, and a lot of gin!

What Quirk are you known for in the gallery? Are you a chatterbox? Tea-Maker extraordinaire etc?

It has to be my sidekick who accompanies to the gallery - Daphne; my little terrier dog who is now the official gallery pup!

Meet Becks...

A jewellery designer and maker in her own right, Becks has been running her business, Rebecca Burt Jewellery, since the end of 2017. Becks joined the gallery team in 2020 and has settled perfectly into the gallery family.

What is your role in the gallery?

I'm mainly customer service but I also manage the exhibition work which I love!

Tell us weird/unknown or interesting fact about yourself

I'm actually a textile design graduate! The work with precious metals came later and although I definitely have a soft spot for textiles to this day. I'm so glad I made the transition.

What music/food/drink has gotten you through the last 12 months?

I love listening to Radio 6 and it's kept me sane. I also have Billy Nomates on a loop at the moment. Food wise I've been vegan for 14 years but in the last couple, the food scene for us vegans has exploded, so I've been trying so many tasty treats recent;y!

What Quirk are you known for in the gallery? Are you a chatterbox? Tea-Maker extraordinaire etc?

I'm definitely the tea maker! Not so much the coffee maker - Beth laughs at my extraordinarily weak coffee making skills!

Meet Kat.....

A recent addition to the gallery team, Kat also runs her own jewellery design business and is a strong advocate of working with diamonds, gemstones and precious metals that are responsibly and fairly sourced, including Fair Trade Gold, Silver, mined platinum and recycled precious metals.

What is your role in the gallery?

I'm all about customer service and I'm also the in-house CAD design specialist, which basically means that if you come to gallery for a bespoke commission, CAD gives you a 3-D drawing and model of the design at the initial phase.

Tell us weird/unknown or interesting fact about yourself

I am related to a former Prime Minister - I am the great, great granddaughter of David Lloyd George.

What music/food/drink has gotten you through the last 12 months?

Lots of Indie Rock! Especially Arctic Monkeys. Food and drink wise it's been red wine or Baileys on the rocks...or added to hot chocolate... or any chocolate pudding....basically loads of chocolate including ginger and dark chocolate biscuits. Can you tell I like chocolate....?

What Quirk are you known for in the gallery? Are you a chatterbox? Tea-Maker extraordinaire etc?

I'm Admin Queen! I love everything to have a home and everything to be organised and in it's place.

Beth Forbes-Simpson

Meet Beth ....

The only non jeweller in the house, Beth is a creative in another discipline - running her wonderful floral design and styling company - Forbesfield | Floral Design & Styling.

What is your role in the gallery?

I organise social media and any copy-writing that the gallery needs. I'm wordsmith in a goldsmiths world!

Tell us weird/unknown or interesting fact about yourself

I can give you a my most embarrassing moment if that counts? A few years back I was at a wedding in the beautiful L.A hills and I was chatting to a girl, mistaking her aloofness for shyness, I told her I would happily introduce her to lots of my other friends who were there so she wouldn't feel so sheepish. Imagine my absolute mortification the following day when my lovely friend - the groom - informed me that the 'Shy Girl' was none other than a very famous Emmy Award winning actress. Apparently everyone there but me knew precisely who she was -as does her enormous social media following. My inside dies to this day when I think of it!

What music/food/drink has gotten you through the last 12 months?

Like Anne I am really into podcasts - I love the Annie Mac's Changes podcast which I highly recommend! Along with Adam Buxton which never fails to make me laugh. Food and drink wise - let's just say that there's been a lot of crisps, cheese and wine.

What quirk are you known for in the gallery? Are you a chatterbox? Tea-Maker extraordinaire etc?

I am always the first one to the coffee pot in the morning when we get into work! And I probably - ok - definitely, have the loudest laugh in the team.

Making a Comeback

The Brooch is Back!

If you follow us on social media you might have seen our post last week about brooches. They are back !

Forget any connotations of old-fashioned or out-dated, brooches are making a big comeback. Think of them as an accessory you can wear any way you want, and suddenly they open up a world of possibilities.

Style them any way you want, on clothes, hair, shoes or bag, and you've just hit upon the hottest new jewellery trend around.

And it's not only the ladies who are getting involved ( did you see the oversized gold dove brooch worn by Lady Gaga at Joe Biden's recent inauguration?! ) but also the men. See Grammy and Golden Globe red carpet outfits for men wearing some serious diamond encrusted pin brooches on their classic tuxedos.

But don't just take our word for it - The Goldsmiths Centre are currently running an exhibition on exactly this. If you want to find out more then just click here and read about the history of this piece of design that is currently enjoying a BIG moment.

Below you can see a small selection that we currently have in the gallery, all handmade by Anne as part of the Erosion Collection.
