SHIMARA CARLOW SHOWCASE
Shimara Carlow's work is inspired by nature, natural forms and seed heads. A childhood spent in a remote coastal area of West Cork nurtured her fascination for collecting shells, stones, mermaid’s purses, feathers and seed pods found along the sea shore, and formed the inspiration for her work.
Shimara uses silver, 18ct gold, gum nuts and precious stones to create her tactile jewellery.
Her collections include “Acorn cup cluster” - clusters of individual acorn cup units assembled to hang in long articulated chains which adorn the body, and “Honesty” - whitened and reticulated silver ovals, which resemble honesty leaves, constructed in to long articulated neck pieces and bracelets. “Wrap” - inspired by birds nests and natural structures, “Acorn cup” - first designed while studying at The Glasgow School of Art and “Gum Nut” - which is inspired by the gum nut of her adoptive home in Australia, and collected and sketched gum nuts from the Adelaide arboretum.
Shimara's Wrap rings have been showcased here since February as part of our Sp-Ring Exhibition, and we are now delighted to present more work from her full collection.

Sp-Ring Exhibition - Final Few Weeks !
Don't forget our Sp-Ring Exhibition comes to an end on 31 May. Some of these rings may never return to Anne Morgan Jewellery, or indeed South Wales, so you don’t want to miss out!
There’s still time to enquire about a bespoke commission from any of the featured makers, and do remember, most rings can be re-sized or re-made with alternative stones or in alternative metals. If there is a ring here that has really stolen your heart, you can always finance it with Collectorplan. You only need to pay 10% upfront and the remainder is repaid with 0% interest (see below for details).
But even if there’s no occasion to buy for, it's worth coming along for inspiration.
